Challenges in the building automation industry

Jan Brissman, TAC/Schneider Electric

Presentation Brissman

Abstract. The state of the environment is an increasingly critical global challenge and a growing public concern. The buildings sector - i.e. residential and commercial buildings - is the largest user of energy and CO2 emitter in the EU and is responsible for about 40% of the EU's total final energy consumption and CO2 emissions. Efficiency improvements and modernization is estimated to be able to save up to 30% of that.

This is the arena where TAC, the Building Automation arm of Schneider Electric, plays an important role as provider of building services for energy and security. Energy efficiency improvements are influenced not only by the equipment used, but how they are controlled, and how they are operated/influenced by operating staff and end users. The presentation will discuss some of these challenges to the Building Automation industry. Biography.
